Comares is the balcony of the Axarquía

The small village is located at an altitude of seven hundred meters above sea level. That is why it is also called the balcony of the Axarquía. Although the village is not big, it is worth a visit. Walking route through Comares From Vélez Málaga a winding mountain road leads you up to the village of Comares. You pass almond and olive trees. At the end of January, and the beginning of February, the almond trees are blossoming, which makes the route even more beautiful.

Walking trail in the whitewashed Andalusian mountain village Comares

In Comares, you can make a walking tour through the village by following ceramic feet. This way you can easily pass all the beautiful places and sights in Comares. The trail takes about an hour. At some points, you have to climb a bit.

You will enter the village via the Moorish entry gate. This is also the best spot to park your car. Besides Moorish remains, there is also a piece of Roman wall that has also been preserved and a medieval water reservoir can be admired at the very top of the village. The richly decorated cemetery gives a good impression of a typical Spanish cemetery.
