Our almost-neighbour Chris invited us to join him on a jeep tour in his 33-year-old Land Cruiser. Half a day of off-road driving through the stunning surroundings of Finca Las Nuevas. To be honest, we had our doubts. We thought we knew the area, right? What else could there be to discover? Besides, we have our own car to explore the region. So what\u2019s the added value of a jeep tour like this?<\/p>\n

After the first five minutes, we were already super enthusiastic. A jeep tour through Andalusia is truly an incredible experience. Because the beautiful blue Land Cruiser doesn\u2019t have a roof, you feel completely connected with nature. You can look around freely, without being blocked by window frames. We saw falcons and short-toed snake eagles soaring above us and enjoyed the changing landscapes we passed through.<\/p>\n

What makes the experience so special is that you get to places you could never reach with a regular car. Think of small sandy trails winding through the hills, or steep rocky tracks where the jeep really has to work hard to climb. On top of that, the scenery changes quickly: one moment you\u2019re driving through a cork oak forest, the next along a dry riverbed, and before you know it, you\u2019re standing at a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking the valleys of \u00c1lora and the mountains of El Chorro.<\/p>\n

Besides the stunning views you get from the jeep, your sense of smell is constantly stimulated, too. You catch the scent of dry grass with a hint of fresh oregano here and there. Driving through the forests, we enjoyed the smell of pine trees. Wonderful. And the aroma of eucalyptus trees always gives me the ultimate holiday feeling.<\/p>\n

Your ears are also treated to new sensations. Because you drive through Andalusia\u2019s landscapes at a relaxed pace, you can clearly hear the cicadas and the birds singing. And of course, you feel the adventure too. The wind in your hair, the warm sun on your skin, and the little jolts when the jeep bounces over a bumpy path\u2014it all adds to the excitement.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a question we asked ourselves, too. We did the jeep tour in mid-August. At 8:30 a.m. Chris was ready at the parking lot. Because the jeep doesn\u2019t have a roof, there\u2019s always a pleasant breeze in the car.<\/p>\n

Tip: Do bring a cap, hat, or scarf that stays firmly on your head. At the end of the ride, when the sun was higher, we did have to watch out a little for sunburn. So, a long-sleeved shirt and a scarf to drape over your legs can come in handy. <\/strong><\/p>\n

But honestly, it wasn\u2019t too hot in the jeep. So don\u2019t let the summer heat discourage you from doing this.<\/p>\n
